On a friend's recommendation, I applied for a volunteer internship in Türkiye, where I spent an amazing six weeks. I improved my English, worked with children at a summer camp, and felt what it's really like to live in another country rather than just being a tourist.

My AIESEC volunteer internship in Sri Lanka was a unique experience that let me work in a multicultural environment and contribute to the local community. This experience meant much more to me than professional growth. Through online collaboration with colleagues from South Africa, I improved my remote communication and my ability to navigate a digital environment, and by meeting people from different cultures I gained new friendships and a whole new perspective.

During my time with AIESEC, I had the chance to host Erin from Scotland. Sharing experiences, conversations, and moments together broadened my horizons and showed me how much different cultures can bring people together. This experience left me with wonderful memories and contributed a lot to my personal growth.

My family loved spending time with our intern - we swapped recipes from Chinese and Serbian cuisine and included her in family celebrations. The worries I had before Tian arrived turned out to be completely unnecessary, because the experience was wonderful from start to finish, for everyone involved.

Our experience with the international student was truly special. My boyfriend and him got so close that they still talk almost every day, and last summer he came back to Serbia and spent two weeks with us. Definitely an experience I'd recommend to anyone considering becoming a global host.

All I needed was two suitcases and one plane ticket to step out of my comfort zone, and the experience that followed was priceless. I was surrounded by wonderful people who turned this into the best experience of my life.
